Forgiveness QT — Episode 1. Joseph Forgives His Brothers

Today’s Passage
“Then Joseph said to his brothers, ‘Come close to me.’ When they had done so, he said, ‘I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves.'” (Genesis 45:4-5)

One-Line Message
The one who caused the deepest wound can become the one who receives the deepest forgiveness.

Reflection
The very brothers who sold Joseph into slavery now stood before him — more than twenty years later, with Joseph now the ruler of Egypt. He had every reason and every power to seek revenge. Instead, he told them, “Do not be distressed, do not be angry with yourselves.” His forgiveness wasn’t about pretending the wound never happened — it came from recognizing that even his pain had been held within God’s larger purpose. True forgiveness isn’t forgetting. It’s seeing God’s hand at work even over our most painful memories.

Reflection Questions

  1. Is there a wound or resentment you’re still holding onto, even after a long time?
  2. Like Joseph, what might change if you could see God’s purpose within your own pain?

Prayer
Lord, don’t let me hold onto wounds from those closest to me. Like Joseph, help me see Your greater plan even within my pain.
