Rebellion: From Sinai to Kadesh (Chapters 11–14)

A season of complaint and unbelief: grumbling over manna, Miriam and Aaron’s challenge to Moses’s authority, and — most decisively — the story of the twelve spies (chapters 13–14). Ten spies bring back a fearful report, the people refuse to enter Canaan, and God sentences that entire generation to die in the wilderness over the next 40 years. This is the pivotal turning point of the book.
