Today’s Passage
“Then he fell on his knees and cried out, ‘Lord, do not hold this sin against them.’ When he had said this, he fell asleep.” (Acts 7:60)

One-Line Message
Even facing death, what he held onto wasn’t resentment — it was forgiveness.
Reflection
Stephen was falsely accused and being stoned to death. As the stones struck him, his final words weren’t for himself. He fell to his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” This prayer strikingly echoes Jesus’ own words from the cross. Stephen interceded for the very people killing him, and after that prayer, he died in peace. If forgiveness can be chosen in the most extreme moment — facing death itself — then the forgiveness we’re asked to extend in everyday life is never truly impossible.
Reflection Questions
- Have you ever prayed for someone who caused you the deepest pain?
- If you held onto forgiveness like Stephen did until his final moment, what would you need to release today?
Prayer
Lord, let me hold onto forgiveness even in my most extreme moments. Give me a heart that can intercede even for those who hurt me.
