Faith & Obedience QT — Episode 7. Mary’s “Let It Be to Me”

Today’s Passage
“‘I am the Lord’s servant,’ Mary answered. ‘May your word to me be fulfilled.’ Then the angel left her.” (Luke 1:38)

One-Line Message
Even in a situation beyond understanding, offering yourself is the height of obedience.

Reflection
To a young, unmarried Mary, the angel delivered astonishing news: she would conceive by the Holy Spirit and give birth to the Messiah. It was news that would upend her entire life — the risk of being misunderstood by her betrothed Joseph, social condemnation, an incomprehensible supernatural event. None of it was easy. Yet after asking, “How will this be?”, Mary ultimately responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May your word to me be fulfilled.” This wasn’t obedience born from fully understanding the plan — it was the obedience of offering her entire life before God’s word. The deepest obedience isn’t understanding the plan. It’s fully surrendering yourself.

Reflection Questions

  1. When your life’s plan doesn’t make sense to you, can you surrender yourself the way Mary did?
  2. Where in your life today could you apply the confession, “May your word to me be fulfilled”?

Prayer
Lord, even in situations I don’t understand, let me surrender my life to You fully, like Mary did. May Your word be fulfilled in me.
