Faith & Obedience QT — Episode 2. Abraham Offers Isaac

Today’s Passage
“Then God said, ‘Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering.'” (Genesis 22:2)

One-Line Message
When we release what’s most precious, the true weight of our faith is revealed.

Reflection
God commanded Abraham to sacrifice Isaac — the promised son he had waited so long to receive. It was a command that made no sense, that couldn’t be reasoned through. Yet Abraham set out early the next morning. Scripture doesn’t dwell on his inner turmoil, but Hebrews explains that he believed “God could even raise the dead.” Abraham’s obedience wasn’t possible because he understood the situation — it was possible because he trusted God’s character. When we release what’s most precious to us, we finally discover what we truly trust.

Reflection Questions

  1. Among the things you treasure most, is there something you’re holding onto more tightly than God?
  2. Like Abraham, if you obeyed even without understanding, what would you need to let go of right now?

Prayer
Lord, when I must release what’s most precious, let me trust Your goodness. Give me a faith that obeys even without understanding.
