Faith & Obedience QT — Episode 4. The Battle of Jericho

Today’s Passage
“Then the Lord said to Joshua, ‘See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands…’ March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days.” (Joshua 6:2-3)

One-Line Message
Even when the method makes no sense, obedience is what brings the walls down.

Reflection
God’s strategy for conquering Jericho made no military sense whatsoever. No swords, no siege weapons — just a daily march around the city and the sound of trumpets. The command was to circle the city once a day for six days, then seven times on the seventh day while blowing trumpets and shouting. From Israel’s perspective, there was no logical reason the walls would fall. Yet they obeyed exactly as instructed, without understanding the method — and the walls fell. God’s ways often go beyond our logic and strategy. Obedience isn’t possible because we understand the method — it’s possible because we trust the One who commands it.

Reflection Questions

  1. Is there something God seems to be asking of you that doesn’t make sense to you?
  2. If you trusted God’s way over your own strategy, what would you need to release right now?

Prayer
Lord, help me trust Your ways even when they go beyond my logic. Let me experience You working even when obedience doesn’t make sense to me.
