Today’s Passage
“Moses answered the people, ‘Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.’… Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.'” (Exodus 14:13, 15)
One-Line Message
The step taken when no path was visible was the beginning of the sea splitting open.
Reflection
The Israelites stood in a desperate position — the Red Sea ahead, the Egyptian army closing in behind. Moses first told them to “stand firm and see the deliverance.” But God quickly followed with, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.” What’s striking is that the command to move forward came before the sea parted. The people didn’t walk because they saw dry ground first — they saw the path open only after they obeyed and stepped forward. Sometimes faithful obedience means taking the first step before the outcome is confirmed, not after.
Reflection Questions
- Is there a situation right now where you’re standing still because you can’t see a way forward?
- If you took a step of obedience before seeing the outcome, where would you begin?
Prayer
Lord, even when I can’t see the path, let me take the first step of obedience. Help me trust the way You open as I move forward.
