Today’s Passage
“Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.” (John 6:11)
One-Line Message
The miracle didn’t begin with abundance — it began with gratitude for something small.
Reflection
The feeding of the five thousand didn’t start with impressive resources. It started with what a boy offered: five small barley loaves and two fish — barely enough to matter. Yet before anything multiplied, Jesus took that small offering and gave thanks first. He didn’t focus on the lack; He gave thanks for what was already there. We often think we need enough before we can be grateful. But Scripture shows the opposite — when we give thanks for the little we have, it becomes the very channel through which abundance flows.
Reflection Questions
- What feels too small or insufficient right now, making it hard to feel grateful instead of discouraged?
- What small thing could you give thanks for first today, before anything changes?
Prayer
Lord, teach me to give thanks first, even when what I have seems small. Let me trust You to work through the little I bring.
